Rhode Island to begin recreational marijuana sales Dec. 1

Written by on 1 December, 2022

Stoners and recreational cannabis lovers will be able to legally purchase adult-use marijuana starting this Dec. 1 in Rhode Island.

“Rhode Island’s rapid implementation (lawmakers approved recreational sales just six months ago) has presented some technical challenges, but also some budding opportunities for dispensaries and suppliers to regain business lost for years in neighboring Massachusetts,” reviews MJBizDaily

Five retailers approved

Importantly, the state will debut the adult-use market with only five approved retailers so far, these include: Aura of Rhode Island in Central Falls, Greenleaf Compassionate Care Center in Portsmouth, Mother Earth Wellness in Pawtucket, Thomas C. Slater Center in Providence and Rise in Warwick.

“This milestone is the result of a carefully executed process to ensure that our state’s entry into this emerging market was done in a safe, controlled and equitable manner,” Gov. Dan McKee said in a statement a few days ago.

“Finally, I thank the leadership of the General Assembly for approving this practical implementation framework in the Rhode Island Cannabis Act and look forward to continuing our work together on this issue,” McKee said.

Large Revenues

In the state of Rhode Island, the new recreational market is expected to total $80 million in the first year and $300 million in the fourth year, according to projections by MJBizDaily .
