Illinois marijuana sales approach $1 billion by 2021

Marijuana sales in Illinois continue to leave substantial revenues. So far this year, the state’s cannabis retailers have sold nearly $1 billion in legal recreational marijuana products.

That’s right, with September’s $100 million haul, Illinois has now recorded $997,067,100 in adult-use marijuana transactions this 2021.

Also, it is important to note that this is the seventh consecutive month that adult-use marijuana sales have exceeded $100 million in the state.

According to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), last month users purchased 2,702,260 recreational cannabis products.

On the other hand, the IDFPR reported that for September there was $81,686,864 worth of cannabis purchases from in state residents, while $40,030,844 corresponds to purchases by out-of-state visitors.

It is worth mentioning that the figures recorded do not include medical cannabis sales, which are tracked separately by a different agency.
