So far, cannabis law in the state provides that cannabis products cannot be consumed in public, are smokers consume their weed in private. Therefore, consumption lounges businesses where smoking, vaping, among others, are allowed, represent an attractive proposition for marijuana users.
The Luna Lounge can accommodate up to 60 people at a time. Owner Holly Roeder told The Southern that pre-sale tickets for the opening are sold out; however, she said that customers without tickets could stop by to see the place and visit The Joint, the main store.
Luna Lounge customers will need to bring their marijuana, but the lounge will offer papers, pipes, and other accessories for purchase or rental.
Smoke-Free Illinois was amended to allow consumption lounges. Local governments can create their own rules for social use businesses, as long as they meet basic guidelines outlined by the state.
