Tips for providing your marijuana seedlings with optimal care

The seedling phase, as well as the different stages your weed goes through, requires special attention to be carried out without problems. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure specific care.

In this article, we will give you some tips so you can successfully protect your short plants.

Ideal lamps

Not all lights are suitable for marijuana seedlings; for example, with HID or LED bulbs that are too powerful, your seedlings can suffer burns.

To protect your seedlings from damage: it is best to use the correct lamps. CFL bulbs with a blue spectrum of light are generally recommended. These lights are energy-efficient and do not produce excessive heat. The ideal lighting cycle is 18 hours of lighting and 6 hours of darkness.

Fertilization of seedlings

Young marijuana seedlings that have just germinated as such do not need nutrients the contrary, adding them from the first moment can be detrimental.

Seedlings are sensitive to fertilizer, so it is recommended not to grow them in soil that is rich in nutrients.

Some growers claim that it is not advisable to fertilize seedlings until they are about 3-4 weeks old.

Correct temperature and humidity

Temperature and humidity are two factors you must take advantage of if you want your seedlings to develop correctly.

Excessive heat, for example, can cause the leaves of your seedlings to start curling upwards, and excessive humidity can cause mold and rot problems.

The ideal temperature for seedlings is approximately 20 to 25°C. The relative humidity is advised to be around 70%.

Protect seedlings outdoors

If you are growing marijuana outdoors, it is ideal that you look for an alternative to protect your seedlings from rain or hungry insects.

To protect them, cover them with a dome. You can make it yourself, cut the top off an empty plastic bottle, and it’s ready. Just don’t let too much humidity inside. You can make a few holes in the bottle to get some air inside.
