Tips for drying cannabis

Once you have finished the manicuring process, the next step is to dry the cannabis. To make a correct drying is essential, that’s why in this occasion we will give you some advices to carry out it successfully, and then you can pass to the curing of your buds.

1) Control the environmental conditions

Just as you must keep factors such as lighting, temperature and humidity under control during the growing process, for the drying process you must also ensure that the conditions of the room are optimal.

The place where you are going to carry out this process must remain in the dark and have air circulation (there does not need to be a great air current, you just have to make sure that the air does not get stagnant).

In order for your buds to dry evenly, make sure that the air can move freely, coming into contact with them from all sides, but keep in mind that the air flow does not have to affect your buds directly, otherwise it will prevent an even drying.

As for the temperature, the ideal is between 18 and 24°C, while the relative humidity is between 45 and 55%. Some people also recommend that the humidity be between 50 and 60%. In any case, take care that your buds do not dry out too quickly.

2) Choose the method

Choose the method in which you are going to carry out the drying process; you can use a clothesline or a drying net (if you choose the latter, it is advisable to turn the buds every day for a uniform drying).

3) Check the buds

Even if you keep the temperature and humidity levels under control, it is advisable to check the buds from time to time, to make sure that there is no presence of mold, fungus or other inconveniences.

How long does this process take?

Generally, this process usually takes at least two or three weeks, however, in reality, there are factors that affect the time it takes for cannabis to dry, such as temperature, humidity, airflow, and density of the bud, among others.

One of the ways to verify that buds are ready to be cured is by bending the stems, if they break instead of bending, it is time to cure.

Perform this process with patience and care. In addition, make sure that the room chosen for drying is only for this purpose. Take into account that an incorrect drying can endanger your buds.
