When you apply training techniques in your marijuana plantations, you can improve your growth in several ways. For example, the Screen of Green (ScrOG) method not only allows you to make better use of the growing space but also to achieve higher productivity.
ScrOG, also known as green screen, is a method in which a grid is used to train marijuana plants to grow horizontally so that all parts of the plant receive the same amount of light.
This technique is usually associated with indoor growing, but it can also work perfectly well outdoors.
In this article, we will give you some key tips to carry out this method outdoors (terrace) as well as possible.
Why use this technique on a terrace?
Growing marijuana on a terrace is a very good alternative if you do not have a garden or grow room.
If you have little space or you would like that your curious neighbors do not see your marijuana plants, applying the ScrOG technique will be very useful.
Tips
1-Choose the ideal strain
There are varieties of marijuana that get along better with this type of technique. For example, genetics that tends to the branch is the most recommended.
Sativas are presented as an ideal candidate to apply this method because with these varieties growers can easily weave their branches to fill a ScrOG.
2- Use plants with the same genetics
To ensure that everything goes well when carrying out this method, it is advisable that all the plants you are growing are always of the same variety or genetics because in this way you will not have problems with the size of your plants or the flowering periods.
3- Structure for outdoor ScrOG
ScrOG nets are not so complicated to make, you can choose to use a folding net, a guide mesh that is used in vegetable gardens, or even builds a structure made of boards and wires.
It is recommended that the mesh has holes of between 5 to 10 cm of opening and that it is not metallic because it could heat up in the sun and cause damage to your plants.
4- Pot size
When you grow your weed on terraces or rooftops, you will have to choose the pot with the ideal size for you. It is generally recommended that pots be 10 to 20 liters so that the roots have enough space to expand.
It is also recommended to preferably use white or as light as possible pots to protect the roots from the heat of the sun.
