How to support marijuana plants outdoors

Written by on 28 May, 2022

All marijuana growers want to harvest big, dense buds, and there’s nothing wrong with that; however, when they get too big, it can become a problem.

The weight of your flowers can cause branches to bend and stems to become damaged, so you’ll need to find a way to support the extra weight.

Fortunately, there are several ways to maintain or support the weight of your outdoor plants.

1- Trellis netting

A trellis, also called a lattice, is a trellis patterned structure or mesh. To apply this alternative, you can buy or make your trellis without investing so much money.

Depending on the space you have available in your plantation, you can place the netting horizontally or vertically around your plants.

If you place the netting horizontally (above your flowers), in addition to supporting the weight of your plants, you will be able to train them as you would in ScrOG.

2- Tomato Wire Cage

The tomato cage is quite similar to placing a trellis around the plants; it will support your flowers from all sides. The only thing is that if you want to control the height of your plants, this may not be the best option.

You can also use this tool as a structure to tie the branches. You can tie the branches to the wire cage for extra support.

3- Bamboo stakes

This is an inexpensive and effective tool. It will help you keep the main upright stem and keep the branches from bending under the weight of your flowers.

Drive some bamboo stakes into the ground around your plants and attach the branches to the stakes can use some soft gardening ties. When tying your girls leave a little space.

If you choose this option, keep in mind that these bamboo poles can rot with prolonged exposure to rain, and as a consequence, this could spread disease to your girls.
