If you are a beginner in indoor cannabis growing, it is normal that before starting to plant your marijuana plants you have some doubts about the process.

One of the most common concerns that beginners have is precisely to know: how long it takes to grow cannabis indoors. Keep reading this article, here we will tell you about it.

Cannabis growth

It is important to mention that the time it takes to grow a marijuana plant depends on many factors, however, we will give you some guidelines that can give you an idea.

It is also ideal to clarify that what is important is not that your strains grow faster, but that they do it healthily.

The growth of a plant is divided into different phases of development: germination, growth, and flowering.

There are several ways to germinate marijuana seeds, so the time it takes to germinate may vary depending on the method you use.

Generally, the germination process of seed is usually between 2 or 3 days, although everything can also depend on the variety you choose. Some can even take up to 15 days.

Growth or vegetative stage

After getting our seedlings and proceeding to their transplant, the growth phase will begin. In this stage, your girls will need a lighting cycle of 18/6 (18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness).

The standard time a cannabis plant usually stays in the vegetative stage indoors is approximately 3 to 4 weeks for autoflowering seeds, while feminized seeds usually take 6 to 8 weeks.

Flowering stage

This is the last growth phase of a cannabis plant. Here your strains will start to develop buds.

To activate this stage indoors you will have to change the light cycle to 12/12, in the case of photoperiod strains. While autoflowering plants, on the other hand, do not need variations in the light and dark cycle to start flowering, as they do it automatically.

In general, auto strains indoors usually develop in about 8 weeks and feminized seeds, around 10 to 12 weeks.

Once the buds have reached full maturity, it will be time to begin the longed-for harvest.

Average time of growing

As we mentioned before, there is no clear answer to the time it can take to grow a plant indoors, since factors such as the type of varieties, the care, the size of the plant, among others, can influence the process, therefore, it is important to understand that each crop is different.

As a guideline, it is worth mentioning that the average indoor growing time takes between 3 and 5 months.
