Planting marijuana in a greenhouse is becoming more and more common among cannabis growers, perhaps because of the great advantages that this type of plantation can offer.
Unlike outdoor growing, where plants are exposed to external factors, in a greenhouse you can have more control over the environment in which your plants grow, allowing you to optimize the temperature, air circulation, among others.
If you don’t know how to start, here we will give you some simple tips for you to set up your own marijuana growing.
1- Know the strains of marijuana
This factor is very important, not only for greenhouse growings. It is essential that when starting your plantation, you know in advance, what kind of cannabis strain you are going to grow, remember that each strain of marijuana may have different needs.
Choose a cannabis strain with the characteristics you are looking for and that have proven to grow well in a greenhouse. Dutch Passion’s Frisian Dew strain, for example, is perfect for this type of growing.
2- Make sure you know how much space you will have
It is ideal when setting up your greenhouse grow to know how much space you will have available and how you are going to divide the space to provide the best possible environment for your girls.
By knowing the amount of space you have, you will be able to define the type of greenhouse you need. It is recommended that the greenhouse has a height of 3 to 4 m (10 to 15 ft.).
3- Choose the most suitable weed size
If you are going to grow marijuana in pots, it is essential that you choose the most suitable pots for your type of greenhouse.
For medium-sized strains, some people recommend growing between 2 and 4 plants per m² in 12-15l pots. This way the plants will have enough space to grow.
4- Use carbon filters and ensure good ventilation
Greenhouses often become humid, which is favorable for the appearance of fungi. To prevent fungi from invading your growing, it is essential to ensure good ventilation in your greenhouse, either by opening the sides or installing a fan.
Also, if you grow several marijuana plants, some people recommend placing a carbon filter in the ventilation system to hide the smell of the plants.
5- Train your plants
In the world of cannabis growing there are a variety of low and high stress training techniques that you can implement to control the growth of your strains. With these methods you can ensure that your plants make the most of the available light and space.
