Frequently asked questions about the use of fans in marijuana growing

Written by on 13 December, 2022

The air circulation inside your grow room is very important to maintain healthy marijuana plants.

Having a good ventilation system is essential; this is composed of elements such as: an extractor and intractor of air and a fan, precisely on the latter we will focus in this article. We will focus on this last one in this article.

Many growers have doubts about the use of these devices; here are some of the most frequent concerns:

1- What is the ventilation cycle?

If the marijuana is exposed to light, the ideal is that all the ventilation is in operation. While, if the lights are off, it is not so necessary, it is enough to reduce the speed of your fan.

Keep in mind that it is not advisable to stop ventilation for very long periods of time. Some people advise that during the night period, the fans should be running for at least 15-30 minutes every hour if you do not want to have them on constantly.

2- What type of fan should you use?

It is recommended to use a fan that has several speeds, so you can adapt it to your needs. It is also advisable to use an oscillating fan.

In the market you can find several models of fans for indoor growing. You can find small ones, ideal for grow tents, foot fans, and perfect for medium sized crops and wall fans for larger grows, where access is difficult.

3- How many fans should be placed in the grow room?

It is important to keep in mind that the number of fans you will need in your growing area will really depend on factors such as the space available or the fan model.

Some people advise that for a grow room of one square meter, two clamp fans should be used instead of one stand fan, as the latter will take up more space.

You should make sure that each of the plants receives sufficient airflow in your indoor grow. Also, you should make sure that the power of the ventilation is adequate to avoid problems in your plantation.
