Written by on 4 August, 2022

Regardless of whether you’re a tidy cannabis smoker or not, you’ve probably at one time or another misplaced a bag of cannabis at home or simply forgotten where you left it.

If one day you are cleaning your home and you come across those buds you bought a few months ago, you are probably wondering: Can I get high with this old cannabis? Is it safe to smoke? Well, these are doubts we’ve all had at one time or another, so don’t worry.

Check out this post as we’ll talk you through it, so, stick with us.

Does cannabis get spoiled over time?

Marijuana doesn’t have an exact expiration date, but that doesn’t mean that in a few months it will still offer the same experience as before.

You see if marijuana is not stored properly over time, it can go stale, dry out and lose its potency. Depending on the conditions in which you store your pot it can last longer.

You will be able to tell that your weed is no longer at its best if you look at it closely. If you notice that your Mary Jane smells like something else instead of smelling like cannabis maybe you should be suspicious.

Another clue to know that your cannabis should move on, i.e., get rid of it, is if you notice that it has mold, patches of white fuzz, if so, forget about it already, you will also realize that your pot is old when you see that it looks dusty or dry.

Can old cannabis be smoked?

If you notice that your buds are not moldy, you can smoke old marijuana because it will not make you sick. However, you must keep in mind that old and dry cannabis produces a harsh smoke, so, most likely you will not get a few puffs full of that flavor and aroma that you love so much of your favorite weed, and the effect could be lower, so, think very well if it is worth smoking it.

Also, if you use your old Mary Jane also take into account that you might cough more than usual.
